ROTT N CHATTER, January 1993, Volume 1 Number 6 WE WON (at least for now) Last September I wrote about the AMERICAN VETERINARY MEDICAL ASSOCIATION taking steps to pressure the American Kennel Club to adopt similar restrictions as the United Kingdom was implementing regarding ear cropping. The ultimate goal was to have been to also restrict tail-docking as well. Well folks....guess what? The AVMA was scheduled to formulate their policy regarding the ear cropping and tail docking at their November 4th and 5th meeting. There was such a preponderance of mail that made so much sense that they came to the conclusion that their current policy is just fine. They are in the process of replying to all of the mail. You might say we have won that battle because the AKC has indicated they have no intentions of changing the wording in their breed standards at this time.
