MISSING ONE PINK TRI-POD... (if there had been such an ad you would have envisioned a platfonm for a camera painted pink, but you wsould been soooo wrong) Once again...Sue Hildebrand DVM, Davis, CA to the rescue, as in Rottweiler..... So how do you suppose one "loses" a three-legged, pink Rottweiler? The folks at Sacramento County shelter (N Calif) called me about Pod. They had kept him for ages, hoping to find him a home. They didn't want to give up on him, beause he was such a gentleman. So they sent him to the Vet School to be neutered, hoping that a student might take him. Sometimes this strategy is successful, but not this time. The folks at the School kept him for ages, then called me. Pod is a very nice fellow, thin, but with a very handsome head. He can't be more than 2 years old. Somewhere along life's highway he parted company with his left hind leg, circumstances unknown. He still had pink paint in his coat when I picked him up. He moves pretty well, especially at the faster paces, when from a distance you'd swear he had 4 legs. He totally cracks me up when he lifts his right hind leg to piddle! Pod is in a super foster home right now, where he gets along well with their Rottie bitch, Aussie bitch, and domineering cat. Pod's foster Mum takes him everywhere - to the dog park to play with many other dogs, to the river where he wins new friends at every turn, even to Davis' big spring event PiCnic Day. He is a charming, steady diplomate everywhere he goes- He adores car rides. Pod is no push-over though. He is quite protective if he thinks things are not right. Good dog! I feel very torn about Pod - there are SO many rotties (with all their components) looking for homes. And Pod is taking up precious foster home space. Am I mad to try and place him? Any suggestions? Better yet, any homes? EDITOR'S NOTE: Sue has updated me reguarding Pod and his foster Mom...she takes him everywhere. He is a great ambassafor, loves looking for that very special family...gives Sue a call at the phone number elsewhere in the newsletter.... now there's a sure way of getting you to read each page....hehe.
